Laurel & Jones County, MS – The City of Laurel proudly announces the debut of its first-ever Family Farmers Market, which opened to the public on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Forrest County Extension Center (formerly behind Sawmill Square Mall)
Local families and vendors gathered for a fun, vibrant day of fresh produce, artisanal goods, and community camaraderie. The event runs from noon to early afternoon, offering a festive, family-friendly atmosphere ideal for all ages.
“Residents have been asking for a recurring farmers market after two years without one,” said Regina Higginbotham, manager of Sawmill Square Mall. “We’re thrilled to host this event and support our community.”
Organizers envision the market as a safe, welcoming space where families can enjoy healthy food choices while fostering small-business growth. Market organizer Lisa Hardee expressed gratitude for the community’s swift and enthusiastic support
