LAUREL, Miss. (WDAM) - The City of Laurel unveiled a new piece of its history Wednesday morning: a series of historic markers called “The City Beautiful: A Microcosm of American Transformation.”
City leaders, Laurel Main Street and the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art gathered at the Laurel-Jones County Visitors Center for the event.
The 13 markers concentrated downtown highlight the people, places and events that shaped Laurel.
The Mississippi Humanities Council made the project possible through the America250 Mississippi grant program.
